What is SPHM?

Well if you’re asking this particular question it may be best to answer first, “What does SPHM stand for?” To answer that, SPHM is an acronym that stands for Safe Patient Handling and Mobility. Sometimes you may see the acronym written out as just SPH without the M for Mobility, this acronym stands for as you would guess, Safe Patient Handling.

Now Safe Patient Handling and Mobility is a term used in healthcare to express the use of resources, such as equipment and best practice, to ensure a caregiver can mobilize or transfer a patient while maintaining standards of safety for both the patient as well as themselves, the caregiver.
